From Beer Pong to PONGConnect, Beer Pong was played with a long table and table tennis balls. Breaking a 60 years tradition, the digital beer pong game system is created in Hong Kong. By creating a digital game system with hardware and software components, PONGConnect can track various data points and player performance indicators, that is difficult to accomplish through the traditional brick-and-motor method of gameplay. Players would like to compare their game performance with their friends and rivals to be an honorary winner.

“PONGConnect” is a nice concept. The judges expressed that the production team converted a popular bar game of the 1960s into a unique digital interactive game and a digital entertainment social platform in local bar. The production team makes use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Matrix Code to generate a real-time entertainment product and develops a special table tennis ball to reduce error and give a high accuracy of position. Furthermore, players can select different play modes using smartphone mobile apps which can enhance the interaction and attraction of the game. The judges are glad to know that “PONGConnect” brings new attractions and income to customers and bars respectively, that is a pleasing win-win situation for them. The continuity and potential of “PONGConnect” is very high, it will bring a positive impact to the interaction design field of digital entertainment industry. |
